What to do
Ten experiences that reveal a coast larger than its famous pair.
The set balances town life, maritime history, living craft, mountain paths and protected valleys from Positano to Vietri. Select compatible experiences by cluster; partner widgets do not count toward these ten.
⛪
Amalfi: cathedral, cloister and maritime-republic layers
Begin in Piazza Duomo, then read the monumental complex of Sant'Andrea together with the lanes, the historic Arsenale and the sea-facing town. The point is not only the cathedral façade: Amalfi's compact geography connects religious art, shipbuilding memory and the legacy of an early maritime republic.

📜
Amalfi paper: working machinery and the mill valley
The Paper Museum occupies a medieval paper mill above the town and interprets handmade production through water-powered machinery and historic tools. Pair the visit with the lower Valle dei Mulini approach so the craft remains connected to the water system and landscape that made it possible.

🎨
Positano: church, vertical lanes and two waterfronts
Positano rewards a slow descent and an even slower return. Connect the majolica dome of Santa Maria Assunta, the layered lanes, artisan storefronts and the separation between Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo rather than spending the whole stop at one viewpoint. Every downhill choice creates an uphill or transport decision later.

Ravello: Villa Rufolo and the high cultural coast
Ravello is a hill town, not a pier stop. Give Villa Rufolo's medieval architecture, gardens and belvedere enough time, then walk the civic center instead of rushing straight back downhill. The high position explains why the visit feels different from Amalfi even though the towns are geographically close.

Atrani: passages, piazza and an intimate neighbor to Amalfi
Atrani sits beside Amalfi but deserves its own hour or evening. Enter through the covered passages, observe how Piazza Umberto I opens behind the beach and follow the compact stair network without turning residential lanes into a shortcut. Walking between the two towns is useful; treating them as identical is not.

🥾
Path of the Gods: Bomerano to the western cliffs
The Sentiero degli Dei is a real mountain walk above the coast, not an elevated promenade. The municipal description begins from the Agerola side and crosses exposed terrain among gorges, terraces and rural structures. Confirm maintenance notices, heat, footing and the complete exit plan before committing.

🌿
Valle delle Ferriere: water, forest and industrial memory
The valley behind Amalfi links streams, protected habitat, terraces and the remains of activities powered by water. Official routes approach from Amalfi or Pontone; choose one according to ability and current access rather than assuming a gentle garden walk. The reserve is a separate commitment from the Paper Museum.

🌊
Furore: read the inlet from above before descending
Fiordo di Furore is a narrow coastal inlet beneath the bridge, not a Norwegian-style fjord and not guaranteed beach access. Understand the road, stairs and return before descending, respect closures or safety controls and combine the stop with Furore's scattered upper settlement rather than blocking the highway for a photograph.

🍋
Minori and Maiori: Roman memory, lemons and a broader shore
Use Minori and Maiori as a connected eastern-coast day, with pastry tradition, citrus terraces and the historic path between the towns. The state museum notice still lists Minori's Roman Villa and Antiquarium as temporarily closed from 25 August 2025, so verify reopening before building the day around entry.

🐟
Vietri and Cetara: ceramic craft and fishing culture
Finish the coast deliberately rather than treating the east as a road to Salerno. Vietri's ceramic language appears in workshops, façades and tiled details, while Cetara's harbor remains tied to fishing and colatura di alici. Visit both with time for craft and food, not as souvenir stops after a western-coast sprint.
Official Italy overview
Experience set researched 2 Oct 2026 from UNESCO, Italy's national tourism portal, the City of Amalfi destination portal, the Municipality of Agerola, Villa Rufolo, the Amalfi Paper Museum and Italy's Ministry of Culture network. Minori's Roman Villa is not presented as open: the latest official museum notice located during this review still records its temporary closure from 25 Aug 2025. Current opening, trail, beach, road and sea conditions require a fresh official check for the exact day.
